XMReality, a provider of an augmented reality (AR) enabled remote assist knowledge sharing tool, has announced that it has signed a three-year contract with Swedish defense and security company, Saab AB, which serves the global market with services and solutions within military defense and civil security. XMReality will provide Saab AB with licenses for its Remote Guidance collaboration platform. The initial order value is approximately USD $180,000, according to the company.
The contract will cover a period of nine months; after this period the number of licenses will be reviewed. The contract and order cover software licenses and server maintenance without any hardware content. XMReality noted that as a strong player within defense and security, Saab has very high standards for its operations, which has led to a thorough evaluation of XMReality Remote Guidance as the platform was evaluated both for software and potential use cases. The software evaluation also covered a safety accreditation.
“This is a very important order and positions XMReality in the aerospace and defense sector where safety standards and standards in general are very high,” said Jörgen Remmelg, CEO of XMReality. “From my many years in this sector, I see a vast number of use cases where our Remote Guidance can create additional value and speed up processes.”
XMReality added that as per the contract terms, most of the commitment will be delivered at the beginning of the contract period.
Saab serves the global market with products, services and solutions from military defense to civil security. Earlier this month, Saab signed a 3-year framework agreement with Vobling that covered solutions in XR technology and 3D, mainly in the form of virtual reality (VR) training solutions.
It seems that Saab is therefore further strengthening its technological capabilities within the XR industry, as the company continuously develops, adopts and improves its technology solutions in order to meet its customers’ changing needs.
Through this contract with XMReality, Saab will have access to the Remote Guidance platform’s range of features, which include an AR-enabled knowledge sharing tool that allows users to communicate remotely using gestures, speech, chat and pointers, as well as:
- A “hands-overlay” technology that allows users to guide someone else’s hands—as if they were physically present with them;
- A web portal to manage teams and users, and to measure usage; and,
- Integration through client-side API’s (Application Programming Interfaces).
