INDE, a provider of augmented reality (AR) products and experiences, has recently announced that it has partnered with Celebrity Cruises, part of the global cruise line operator Royal Caribbean Group, on its first fleet-wide augmented reality kiosk network at sea. Utilizing INDE’s ‘HeroMirror’ AR kiosks, guests onboard Celebrity ships will be able to take shareable photos with the ships’ Captains, other officers and crew members, as well as 3D characters.

Operating on a kiosk-sized footprint, INDE’s HeroMirrors offer a plug-and-play, branded entertainment solution for creating photorealistic, studio quality augmented reality experiences with automated image and video sharing in any location, according to the company.

“We’re delighted to start our cooperation with Celebrity Cruises focusing on a very practical use case and powerful stories to tell featuring talent and branded experiences 24/7 with the potential for a lot more across the coming years,” said Adam Takacs, Director of Business Development in North America at INDE.

Celebrity Cruises piloted the technology during a sailing celebrating International Women’s Day with the company’s first-ever all-female officer and leadership team at the helm of the Celebrity Edge vessel. Guests were able to celebrate the sailing with an AR photo with the ship’s Captain, also the first female American captain of a mega cruise ship, Captain Kate McCue.

“Our guests raved about the experience and the level of engagement with our brand was off the charts,” said Jeannette Coto Dou, Celebrity’s Vice President of Onboard Revenue. “ We saw an opportunity to lean into the interactivity of the platform and expand the offering across all of our ships.”

INDE stated that its HeroMirrors will roll out across Celebrity’s fleet throughout the remainder of 2021.
