Immersed’s CEO posts passthrough capabilities for the long-awaited headset

Social media updates have revealed Meta Platform’s Quest Pro headset capabilities for new features such as colour passthrough and peripheral blinders, media reports found on Thursday.

Renji Bijoy, Immersed Chief Executive, posted a short video on his company blog, which unveiled the Quest Pro’s colour passthrough features.

Reports indicate the Quest Pro will offer mixed reality (MR) passthrough with higher resolutions than its predecessor, the Meta Quest 2, which features black and white visuals.

Video footage also shows the device provides peripheral vision blinders, allowing users to block out peripheral light sources depending on virtual or mixed reality (VR/MR) use.

The device is expected to launch later this month following the Meta Connect event on 11 October, where the company will address key initiatives, unveil plans for its operations, and launch new products.

Meta Quest, Immersed Updates

The news comes just after a further video revealed an allegedly abandoned Meta Quest Pro in a hotel room. Leaked footage showed the device’s controllers, packaging, and outward-facing sensors.

According to specifications reports, the device will support its Presence Platform operating system (OS) to support real-time 3D (RT3D) graphics, Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon XR2 processor, 2160 x 2160 resolution per eye, dynamic foveated rendering, 90 Hz refresh rates, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and six degrees of freedom (6DoF), among others.

VR firm Immersed recently debuted fresh updates for its collaborative workspaces platform, including doorway portals for merging physical and virtual environments, multi-screen workflows, physical keyboard integrations for Apple Magic and Logitech K830 keyboards, and full passthrough.
