Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes, University of Applied Science (UAS), Saarbrücken, Germany is pleased to announce its 1st ERASMUS+ Staff Training Week, which will take place from 27 November to 1 December 2017 in Saarbrücken, Germany. The five-day program consists of plenary sessions, workshops, presentations and social events.

How can digital learning, videos, virtual realities, etc. be of use and implemented into the university environment? These are some of the questions we want to tackle with you and your international colleagues during the workshops, discussions and presentations. here are so many exciting ways of teaching and learning across all disciplines and higher education institutions (HEI). Let’s try to explore some of them together during the ERASMUS+ Staff training week in Saarbrücken.

Target group

The program is designed both for international academics dedicated to innovation in the classroom and for staff dealing with the technical implementation of new technologies into the everyday operation of HEI.

Sunday, 26 November

Monday, 27 November

10:00 – 11:00: registration, coffee

11:00 – 12:30: opening, welcome by University authorities, presentation by International Relations staff

12:30 – 13.30: lunch

13:30 – 17:00: presentation about activities and experiences at the htw saar

Tuesday, 28 November

09:00 – 16:00: parallel workshops

Workshop 1: Professional video production using the example of interviews, Part 1

Together with the experts from the School of Fine Arts, Saarbrücken (HBKsaar) we will cover in this workshop common techniques for video production. Interviews are a universal format that can be used for teaching, to promote services, for explainer videos and many more settings. We will combine the technical aspects, such as illumination, sound, cut and post-production based on the complete production of an interview. 

Workshop 2: How to produce explainer videos, Part 1

Explainer videos are short online videos that can be used to explain course content, new concepts, services, laboratory experiments and much more. Usually they take the form of short, simple animations or drawings and are distributed on the web via YouTube and similar platforms.

This workshop offers an in-depth introduction to the use and production of this thriving teaching tool.

  • Hands-on production of your first own (simple) explainer video

13:30 – 16:00: Be prepared: The odds and possibilities of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality in education. A foresight view of VR and AR in the learning and teaching environment.  (Jan Tretschok, HBKSaar- School of Fine Arts)

16:30- 19:00 Uhr: Visit of the Virtual Reality Arena. Live VR-experience with a lot of fun. More information (in German)

Friday, 1 December

Saturday

The local, recommandable Christmas market in „Alt-Saarbücker“ opens in the evening. Feel free to visit it with us.

During the whole week a Christmas market will be open in the city centre.
