Revtra Pro Inc., a trailblazer in educational technology, has offered the latest innovation in training with its virtual reality (VR) program developed by Filipino IT Company, Seaversity.
Revtra Chairman Jae Jung Jang said the company has brought innovative approach in improving the competence of Filipino seafarers by utilizing modern technologies for distance learning and e-learning, the state-of-the-art facilities and the most advanced simulators from Kongsberg.

Seaversity is the technology provider of Revtra in terms of e-learning and virtual reality programs. All training facilities and equipment of Revtra were engineered to meet the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

The e-learning shortens classroom time by 50 percent by providing the Filipino seafarers with tools that allow them to learn in their homes or anywhere at any given time.
Seaversity CEO Engr. Ephraim dela Cerna said Revtra has pioneered the use of proudly Filipino designed VR programs in maritime education aimed at enhancing seafarers’ skills in highly technical and sometimes high-risk jobs.
“Trainees get to immerse in a virtual environment without compromising their safety and in the process, making trainings more effective and cost-efficient for companies,” he said.
Dela Cerna said the VR walkthroughs use 3D VR technology. The trainees can explore the decks of a virtual ship. Life-size elements and high-end rendering of actual ship complete with interior and exterior images of the vessel, its engines and other components, which allow trainees a better understanding of depth and scale of the ship.
“In VR, the immersive experience brings the trainees to respond in a virtual environment, as if he is present in an actual ship,” he said.
Revtra has the first VR unit in the Philippines that can teach engineers the engine overhauling while in the classroom.
