Las Vegas, 2024. Everyone comes here with a dream, but only the lucky leave with it. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas we presented our biggest dream: transforming the way we live, work, move and make. Technology to transform the everyday, for everyone. Recognizing that technology is the most powerful tool humanity has.

Combining the real and digital

Most people have heard of virtual reality or the metaverse, but our dreams go way beyond computer games or immersive rollercoasters: We want to make technology accessible to everyone, more easily and at scale through the power of the „Industrial Metaverse“. With 175 years of experience innovating in the real world, we combine this with the tremendous power in the digital world. The potential is mind blowing.

And this story was showcased in the opening keynote at the largest tech event in the world.

Using immersive technology can be quite entertaining, but we are not in it just for the fun of it. We want to contribute to building the Industrial Metaverse, to help create real and lasting impact: “We envision the industrial metaverse as a virtual world that is nearly indistinguishable from reality, enabling people — along with artificial intelligence — to collaborate in real time to address real-world challengessaid our CEO Roland Busch in his keynote from the Las Vegas stage.

He continued: “This will empower customers to accelerate innovation, enhance sustainability and adopt new technologies faster and at scale, leading to a profound transformation of entire industries and our everyday lives. Together with our customers and partners, Siemens is proud to announce new products that will bring the industrial metaverse a step closer to all of us.”

Partnering up to make this happen

For this reality to feel truly immersive, we have partnered up with a company that can help bring this vision to life: We’re working with the Sony Corporation to introduce a solution that combines the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industrial software with Sony’s new spatial content creation system, displayed through their XR head-mounted display with high-quality MicroDisplay and controllers for easy and intuitive interaction with 3D objects.

This will enable designers and engineers to play, create and explore concepts in a borderless immersive workspace.  Our hope is that this new solution will take the content creation for the industrial metaverse to the next level . Later in 2024 we expect our NX™ Immersive Designer to become available; an integrated solution that combines our own expertise and Sony technology, bringing immersive design and collaborative product engineering capabilities our NX software.

Developing a new reality

We’re working on multiple fronts to make the technologies of the future available to everyone. For example, we are strengthening our partnership with Amazon Web Services to make it easier for businesses of all sizes and industries to build and scale generative artificial intelligence applications. The same artificial intelligence that is also a cornerstone in the new, industrial metaverse.

In Las Vegas we launched the Siemens Xcelerator Developer Portal, taking a giant leap forward, delivering a first-of-its-kind platform joining all Siemens’ APIs and developer resources. This portal runs on principles of openness and collaboration, supplying developers a unified space to explore and access Siemens and partner APIs.

In collaboration with Microsoft, the developer portal introduces a Chatbot, offering an innovative artificial intelligence companion to enhance the development experience. Seamlessly integrated with industry-leading API platforms like Postman, the Developer Portal ensures a streamlined and developer-friendly journey from discovery to deployment, that we hope many will use to help build the future.
