ADSM’s Bachelor of Science in Management students recently engaged in an interactive “Mission to Mars” simulation as part of their Introduction to Logic and Critical Thinking and Introduction to Business courses. Led by Dr. Constance Van Horne and Dr. Razan Masri, this immersive VR experience allowed students to work in teams to solve complex problems under simulated space mission constraints. With VR headsets, students found themselves on a Mars-bound spaceship, where they had to decide which items to jettison for a safe landing. They weighed criteria such as health and safety, mission survival, and operational efficiency. From essential life support equipment to innovative tools for Martian exploration, each decision required careful analysis of both explicit information and hidden implications, pushing students to balance the immediate needs of the mission with long-term outcomes. “This simulation offers an invaluable learning experience, allowing our students to apply classroom concepts in a high-stakes environment,” noted Dr. Van Horne. Dr. Masri added, “The case study develops skills essential to their future careers, including effective communication, critical thinking, and teamwork.” ADSM’s approach, incorporating cutting-edge simulations and practical experiences, demonstrates its commitment to preparing students for the demands of the global workforce through innovation and hands-on learning.
