Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus a few months ago in Wuhan, China, the illness has spread globally, with the number of those impacted increasing daily. To see how pervasive COVID-19 has become — more than 171 countries currently have at least one positive patient — we are tracking active cases on a 3D map based on data gathered by Johns Hopkins University.

On desktop, use your mouse to zoom and rotate the object in 3D; on mobile, place the object in your space, use your fingers to resize and rotate in augmented reality

The 3D map can be viewed on both desktop and mobile.

For desktop:

– Click on “View in 3D” below

– Use your mouse to zoom and rotate the object

For mobile (optimal experience):

– Click on “View in 3D” below

– Tap on the camera icon in the upper right hand corner of the browser

– Press “allow” (this prompt should come up multiple times)

– Place the object in your space, use your fingers to resize and rotate in augmented reality

– To take a photo of what you’re seeing, tap on the screen and a camera icon will appear
