The story
The partnership gives surgeons access to ImmersiveTouch’s VR surgical tools to streamline the viewing, planning and simulating of interventional procedures using Zimmer Biomet’s plating and fixation solutions.
ImmersiveView renders CT/MRI data into an immersive 3D, interactive reconstruction of the patient’s anatomy, allowing surgeons to rehearse less invasive, patient-specific approaches in procedures.
Zimmer Biomet’s craniomaxillofacial’s business delivers a wide array of devices focused on helping surgeons in treating the cranium, mandibular and maxillofacial skeleton. Its portfolio encompasses a number of essentials for craniomaxillofacial surgery, including implants, instruments, e-tools and specialised patient-matched services to support clinicians, patients and hospitals.
Dr. Russell Reid, plastic surgeon at the University of Chicago, said of ImmersiveView: “The power of ImmersiveView is akin to having a GPS system on an unmapped road. Several times I have used it on panfacial fractures, gaining the ability to see in the OR what was not previously seen prior to surgery.”
Commenting on the partnership with Zimmer Biomet, Jay Banerjee, chief executive officer of ImmersiveTouch, said: “Since our inception, it has been our vision to provide world-class virtual reality based surgical tools that streamline workflow and provide access to critical information, ultimately enabling surgeons to perform highly delicate procedures with greater speed and precision. We’re thrilled and honored to be expanding our relationship with Zimmer Biomet and to see these benefits offered to more surgeons in our quest to improve patient care.”
