The assistive reality hardware solutions provider integrates Navigator 520 devices into its supply chain to drive productivity and sustainability outcomes

This week, RealWear introduced a series of hardware enhancements to improve its global supply chain for distributing Navigator 520 AR headsets. The firm is leveraging its very own Navigator device for workers on its production lines, resulting in operational efficiencies, cost savings, and a measurable reduction in CO2 emissions when creating its products.

The supply chain enhancements allow RealWear to spearhead sustainability goals while scaling the distribution of its leading assisted reality wearable solution.

RealWear is leveraging its own headset solution to prove the abilities of the Navigator 520 hardware. The firm believes that including the device in its own supply chain will optimize efficiency and safety outcomes.

Moreover, integrated Navigator 520 devices for manufacturing processes allow frontline workers to access information and remote expertise – hands-free – while keeping their view unobscured. The device ensures this by presenting vital information on a micro-display during workplace procedures.

Craig J Wilson, Vice President of Operations at RealWear, added:

Implementing our own assisted reality wearables within our manufacturing supply chain has been a game-changer for RealWear. RealWear Navigator 520 has enabled our extended supply chain family to perform remote manufacturing audits, conduct virtual factory tours, and provide real-time training without the need for international travel. The results have been in line with what our own customers are seeing with our technology, with cost savings, increased productivity, enhanced safety and reduced carbon emissions.

Results from Supply Chain Implementation

According to RealWear, by implementing its own headsets into its supply chains, the firm is experiencing “remarkable results.”

Implementing Navigator 520 hardware supply chains can decrease unnecessary international travel, lowering travel costs by roughly $67,500 per year.

The travel savings also help frontline teams save astronomical amounts of time, with RealWear claiming the Navigator 520 integration costs an estimated 63 days of productivity.

The travel reductions also allow for supply chains to lead in sustainability goals, with RealWear avoiding roughly 41,143 kg of CO2 emissions – notably, positive green outcomes can lead to decision-makers taking note of XR’s potential in the workplace, and RealWear’s use case is a great example.

More on RealWear

RealWear is a leading XR firm, supporting countless enterprise end-users in their immersive journey. XR Today recently recognized the firm during its yearly XR Awards, awarding RealWear its Best Manufacturing and Industrial Solution prize.

XR Today recognized RealWear following another year of innovation for the firm. This year, RealWear launched three new services RealWear Connect, App Marketplace, and Developer Toolkit.

RealWear’s developer toolkit for Cloud supports its new application portfolio, allowing the developer community to design new work opportunities for end-users to leverage in a range of use cases.

The move marks RealWear’s transition from an XR solutions provider to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) leader for managing fleets of immersive headsets.

The firm also introduced Connect, a solution which assists frontline immersive collaboration across central operations teams, such as dealing with hardware support requests.

RealWear Navigator 520 or HMT-1Z1 allow an off-site operator to share their point of view via Connect, including AR visualizations. Moreover, Connect supports Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

As 2023 moves forward, RealWear will continue to champion and express the benefits of XR in the workplace.
