Mumbai: Struggling to keep pace with your fitness goals during the lockdown. Worry not! Online sessions and virtual challenges are fast taking over newsfeeds as gyms remain shut across the world.

Exercise videos and training plans were already available digitally but according to experts the future of fitness will now involve AI and augmented reality. From Virtual Reality workouts to shadow boxing to celebrity influencers enabled sessions, the $3 billion fitness industry is set to hit a reset post-COVID 19.

„We have something called energy meter which is an interactive Computer vision AI whereas you work out, the camera watches you. Based on your movement, it generates data about your movement intensity, detects your repetitions as well. We have filed for patents for this here in India and outside as it could be widely used in the future“ Mukesh Bansal, the co-Founder of Curefit told ET Now.

With social distancing fast becoming a way of life, more people will be wary of sharing fitness equipment with others, which will lead to a surge in home fitness purchases. Wearables and Fitness apps were already in vogue but the new entrant could be the interactive at-home system like smart mirrors. Smart mirrors had taken the fitness industry by storm in 2018 but COVID 19 has given a fresh push for its widespread adoption. So, the next time to want to pump some iron, forget the trainer and adopt AI.

Here’s a sneak peek into the new world of fitness
