Synch your Quest headset to Apple Health for an enhanced VR fitness experience.

It was back in 2020 that Meta (formerly Facebook) first introduced the Move app for Meta Quest headsets. Compatible with a wide range of VR games and apps, including Thrill of the Fight and FitXR, the system-level fitness tracker offers a variety of unique capabilities, including estimated calorie tracking as well as customizable fitness goals. In March of 2022, the company announced plans to bring Move support to the Oculus app, allowing you the ability to track your VR workouts both inside and outside your Quest headset.

Today, Meta announced that it has officially begun rolling out these highly-anticipated updates to the Meta Quest and Meta Quest 2, beginning first with iOS users. Those on iPhone have the ability to access their Move stats straight from the Oculus app by enabling support in their Quest headsets.

All you have to do is access the Move app via the apps panel on your headset and toggle the “Connect Move to Oculus Mobile app” option to begin synching data between your headset and smartphone. If this is your first time opening the Move app, you will be guided through a brief setup process. Once synced, you’ll then have the ability to check your fitness progress—including estimated calories burned, Move minutes, and daily goals—straight from your iOS device anytime, anywhere.

In addition to the Oculus app, Meta is introducing the ability to synch your Move stats with Apple Health, a highly-requested feature among iOS users. One of the most popular health apps available to the general public, Apple Health keeps track of everything from your health records and physical activity to your sleep habits and heart rate. Now, you can automatically share your Move data directly to your Apple health profile.

The setup is fairly straightforward. First, be sure you’ve connected Move to your Oculus app by following the instructions provided above. Next, select the “Connected Apps” tab located at the top and toggle “Apple Health” to enable support. You will need to enable several permissions in order to access the full suite of features, including “Active Energy” and “Workouts.” You can change these settings anytime in your iPhone settings.

As stated previously, these fitness features will begin rolling out today on select Quest headsets, so don’t freak out if the options aren’t available to you just yet. For more information check out the official blog post here.
