VRpilot, a Danish company that designs, develops and sells virtual reality (VR) training applications for use by ATOs, airlines and air forces, has recently announced that it has been selected by Icelandair, the flag carrier airline of Iceland, to deliver immersive procedure training tools for flight crew training on the Boeing 737 MAX.
According to VRpilot, it will deliver virtual reality headsets with the company’s VRflow procedure training platform installed, tailored to Icelandair’s 737 MAX procedures and cockpit layout.
Guðmundur Tómas Sigurðsson, Head of Training at Icelandair, said: “Icelandair takes great pride in providing industry leading training to all our crew members and we are continuously looking into methods to improve the quality of our training. According to VRpilot, Icelandair has selected the newly launched Pico 4 Enterprise VR headsets to run their version of VRpilot’s VRflow platform.
Last year, VRpilot announced that major US airline Alaska Airlines strengthened its commitment to use the company’s pilot training solutions and increased its number of headsets with VRpilot’s software.
