Oculus today announced the launch of its new Oculus Avatars on a handful of popular Oculus titles, including Topgolf with Pro Putt, PokerStars VR, and Epic Rollercoasters.

Using the new Avatar Editor, users can customize every aspect of their digital self from their clothing and hairstyle to body shape and cosmetics. Users can also—for the first time—personalize their avatars’ facial features, including their eyes, mouth, and nose. You can even add wrinkles, just in case you wanted a painfully realistic experience. According to Oculus, this latest update supports “over one quintillion permutations” with more options still to come.

Alongside the new design and customization options, the new Oculus Avatars feature “machine-learning based motion prediction technology,” resulting in more fluid, natural movements akin to what you might see in real life.

“Trying to mimic how your body is moving in real-life presents a huge technical challenge,” states the company in an official blog update. “We’ve spent a lot of time in our research and development facilities studying physical movement, and have used those learnings to train a model that predicts your shoulder and elbow positions based on where your headset and controllers are located.”

As previously stated, the new Oculus Avatars roll out today on Topgolf with Pro Putt, PokerStars VR, and Epic Roller Coasters, with support arriving on Synth Riders and ForeVR Bowling soon. Oculus is currently testing its new system with a handful of developers with plans to launch its Avatar SDK 2.0 later this year.

These same avatars will also be accessible on other Facebook platforms, such as Instagram, Messenger, and the Facebook app.
