Inception XR, creator of the augmented reality (AR) children’s book app Bookful, has announced today that it has teamed up with global toy company Mattel, to add AR books from two of Mattel’s iconic brands, Barbie and Thomas & Friends to its platform.

Barbie was introduced more than half a century ago, and is the leading fashion doll. Thomas & Friends (Thomas the Tank Engine) was created 75 years ago and today has hundreds of TV episodes, books, toys and even a theme park. The Barbie and Thomas & Friends titles are joining Bookful’s library of top publishers and brands including Penguin Random House, Charlesbridge and DK.

Bookful by Inception brings children’s books to life with AR and 3D animations providing productive screen time while cultivating a love of reading and learning, according to the company.

Beyond Bookful, Inception delivers XR apps in key content categories, by combining a proprietary tech platform, exclusive content IP, cross-platform distribution and a global creative network. Inception’s XR platform uses templates and engines to drive XR content across platforms, devices and verticals.

Commenting on the addition of the Mattel brands into the Bookful library, Inception XR CEO, Benny Arbel, said: “We are extremely excited to have two of Mattel’s iconic properties added to our library. We are sure these books will add an exciting new dimension to the library with stories that will inspire young readers.”

Several titles from Mattel have been added to Bookful. The app is available for download on the Apple App Store and the Google Play store. For more information on Inception XR, please visit the company’s website.
